The Hangover Session with Lindsey Weber.
Lindsey blogs on tumblr under the name Interweber and works for the internet during the day hours at the barbarian group, while doing other fun things online like creating we have lasers!!!!!!, and blogging for (RIP!) urlesque.com. She is also helping to create the urdb book of world records. (I borrowed all that from her blog so I believe it’s true). The first time I met Lindsey we were having drinks and I got a text from another friend that she couldn’t get drinks with us cause Bret Michaels was about to die (he didn’t), but I’ll always remember that special moment we had together. Following Lindsey on tumblr is like having one of those moments every time she posts something.
What TV character would you most like to have drinks with?
I’d have bottled PBRs and karaoke duet Cruisin’ with Pacey Witter any day.
Where do you watch TV? Do you watch television on an actual TV?
I definitely watch TV on an actual TV! Oh man, there’s nothing like it. Myself and my two roommates have an ongoing love affair with our DVR. Seriously, in our house there are major DVR dynamics, rules & regulations. I won’t get into the official creed, but it involves precise timing and taste. I also watch TV on computers and things—but only bootleg YouTube videos of The Nanny (in 12 pieces, duh) and HBO miniseries (MILDRED PIERCE WUTUPPPP!!)
What is your current “must see tv”?
Friday Night Lights (soon-to-be RIP), South Park (although last week’s episode clearly signaled the end of the end), Mad Men (like the rest of Brooklyn, NY), Various Bravo shows—ideally RHONY, Work of Art, Tabitha’s Salon Takeover, Any TV-based mini-documentaries about methamphetamines (THAT’S METH!) ideally airing on PBS, A&E and (one day?) the return of VH1’s Behind the Music, Reruns of Beverly Hills 90210 on SOAPNet
With the summer TV schedule beginning, what do you plan on watching this summer?
After binge-watching every episode of Breaking Bad (pun intended!) back in February, I’m excited for that show to return. The Friday Night Lights show finale that airs soon is guaranteed break my heart into millions of pieces, so I’ll need some seriously good TV to cheer me up.
What was your favorite television show as a child?
Everything on Nickelodeon’s SNICK line up in the mid-90s. Boy Meets World. The Nanny. When my parents were asleep I’d secret watch Married With Children.
You are the casting director for the New Golden Girls remake. Who do you cast as Rose, Dorothy, Blanche, and Sophia?
I’ll admit I’m not as well-versed on Golden Girls as some of my friends, but if it’s four old ladies living together (that’s idea, right?) I’d love to make it OLD MEN and throw together Burt Reynolds, Peter O’Toole, Ed Asner & (as Sophia!) Abe Vigoda.
What TV show do you think everyone should be watching?
Saying this is like teaching the Internet how to Dougie, but if every day of my life I tell just one person about Friday Night Lights, I would consider it a life well-spent.
What blog do you think could be made into a great TV show?
Not just because she referred me here, but if Slaughterhouse 90210 could be made into a TV show it would 100% win every Emmy. It would probably even with a Pulitzer.
For real though, let’s not make blogs and/or Twitters into TV shows anymore. Haven’t we learned our lesson here, William Shatner? I’m talking to you.
Macy Gray wants to be on TV. You need to write a script for the pilot. What will it be about?
Macy Gray? Really? Isn’t she insane now? I know this because I occasionally read her Twitter. Because that’s the case, how could this NOT be reality TV? If I had to write a script, it’d be a mockumentary shot reality TV style where I don’t write anything but let Macy take creative control to write her own lines and then repeat them back to me. Shot all in sepia. Guest-starring Tyrese.
We all love seeing our hometowns on TV (and in the movies). What are your favorite Boston based TV shows?
I must say Boston’s fared better on film, especially in the recent years. But I always watched ZOOM when I was younger, so that counts (even though the only Boston reference ever made was the zip code at the end when they asked for submissions in the credits.) A girl’s got to mention Ally McBeal, if only for the episode where she dates a much-younger dude, he takes her to Fenway and she does a delightful Carlton Fisk home run impression. AND who could forget when the kids of Dawson’s Creek attended the fake Worthington University in our fair city? Capeside 4EVER.
Who needs a reality show?
I think Shaq’s long overdue for some reality TV. And not anything like the one he already had where he tried to beat other athletes in their sports—I believe it was called “Shaq Vs.” That didn’t fair too well, but not by any fault of THE_REAL_SHAQ’s. I mean, he just married HOOPZ, the winner of the first season of Flavor of Love! How could not make the leap into reality TV. It’s perfect timing too: He just retired from basketball. It’s only a matter of time before we see him on OWN. Yes: OWN.
4th Hour of the Today Show or The View?
I drink white wine, so Kathy & Hoda get my vote.
RHONY or RHONJ?
“To a certain group of people in New York, status is everything.”
Mob Wives or Sister Wives?
Sorry, I’m truly all about The Real HouseWIVES.
Velma or Daphne?
A.C. Slater or Zach?
Best hangover remedy?
A steady diet of white wine and Four Loko. And not falling asleep drunk—ever.
